Sorry if this is the wrong section for this thread. I wasn't really sure where it should go.
So my homework is to look up speeches of people coming out to their boss as trans. I work for smaller business so it's easier for me to tell in person than in a letter and there's not all these fancy people because it's just owned by one person with a relatively small workforce. Sooo I've been trying to look up speeches and letters of how people tell their bosses they're trans and going to start hormones but I haven't found anything.
So from all of your I'd like either your own advice, how you've done it, or maybe you can link me to some place with useful information. Thanks in advance!

`If your state has anti-discrimination laws then I'd cite those and attach copies for reference so your employer knows you will sue them if they try to fire you over it. Then keep it simple. If your state does not have anti-discrimination laws, go live with someone, transition, then find a new job. Washington was really good to transgender people when it comes to their laws. If you are born in Washington and transition they destroy your original birth certificate and issue a brand new one. They help you *destroy* your previous persona. I cannot really tell you about other states though.

`I cant say so much positive on this point,
sadly my experience is that many country find it hard dealing with transgender people when it comes to work.
my mother have always scoled me for telling a school or a working place I was trans because she know that most transgender people get rejected from that fact, ( I also got rejected from the start of 2 schools and looked down on 1, from the 3 school I been to in my life, and for the short time work I have never been to a place where I had told them I was trans. the key is to be a good speaker because even if they reject you it not really legal so if your know your rights then you can still get in.)
I wont work for a time, because of some famely rules,
the only advise is as I said to know your rights and be a good speaker..
because if they reject you then its discrimination, and even in country where there no transgender law then there might be a law against discrimination for gender itself.. (as here where I live)

`I would heavily sugest against it, but not for the reason you think. Even with anti-discrim laws they can always find a different "Reason" to fire you, such as being literally a minute late, or entirely invented reasons.
I would say test the waters first to determine your boss's take on such, then figure out whether you should from there....
ultimately, i'd just say be careful.

`well i can say look in your companies hand book. see what it has to say. then go to your HR person and ask for an "off the record meeting" to ask them what they think. when i came out at work it was a bit awkward but we had a really good head of the HR department who had the company policy changed to include transgenderism as part of it's anti-discrimination policy worldwide. so there's that. but dont let anyone tell you for any reason to stay hidden. if we all do that these things never change. and anyone who tells you not to be who you are is just plain and simply wrong. if coming out has you afraid find support in your friends and those who care about you for you. and if the worst happens and it costs you your job then contact the ACLU if you live in the states or if you live outside the states then contact a lawyer and see what you can do there. but be informed and be aware of what rights you do and dont have. there are many transgender education sites. have a couple of them written down in case your boss is not aware of what transgenderism is. also many of those support sites also have guidelines and such for coming out in the workplace. but NEVER let anyone tell you to not be who you are. NEVER let them tell you that you will have to spend the rest of your life in hiding. because you dont. and you shouldn't.
when i first went to talk to HR at my last job i started out by asking the policy stating that i had a friend who was trans and thinking of applying for a job. it's a good way to test the waters. hope that helped.
